The Great Range is the prominent ridge in the middle distance featuring The Wolf Jaws and Gothics. On the far horizon at the left is Giant and in the center Dix and Nippletop. All of these are part of the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. The hike to Big Slide is an eight mile day trip via a long ridge called The Brothers and yields outstanding views along the way.
