A group of hikers descends the trail on the long plateau of Table Mtn. with Mt. Baker in the distance. Table Mt. offers a great alpine experience: the chance to gaze at two of the gems of the North Cascades, Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan. The former is visible at the far left with Ptarmigan Ridge leading out to it. Behind me was Mt. Shuksan; one cannot miss it on the descent of Table Mt. This hike was about five miles round trip, well traveled and easily accessed. There are some exposed places on the switchbacks leading up to the plateau; it's very popular with day hikers in the summer.
